Footprint Calculator
What is the environmental impact of your building project? In Europe, buildings account for 42% of total energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2). Did you know that there is a great savings potential through integrated control systems that optimize operations? We're happy to introduce our Footprint calculator: an energy and CO2 savings indicator, which uses a standardized calculation model to estimate potential energy and CO2 savings that can be created using our control systems, products and services.
Optimize Your Building's Energy Efficiency
The Swegon Energy & CO2 Calculator is a user-friendly web-based tool designed for early-stage energy assessments of buildings. Utilizing the European ISO 52120-1:2021 standard, it calculates potential energy savings based on the level of Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) used.
By selecting your country, building type, and size, the tool estimates energy & financial costs and operational carbon footprints. It identifies the energy consumption required to achieve a C-class rating, the current minimum for new buildings.
Choose from Swegon's system functionalities to see additional energy savings beyond the baseline. This powerful tool helps visualize the benefits of advanced BACS, guiding you towards enhanced energy efficiency and sustainability.
Calculate your potential savings
The Footprint Calculator estimates a building's potential energy and CO2 savings, as well as cost savings, during operation for both new and existing buildings.
The Footprint Calculator enables you to:
- Quickly and easily estimate potential (financial) savings
- Reduce energy consumption
- Reduce the climate footprint
The calculator assumes that:
- A new construction meets the requirements for a building in energy class C - the minimum permitted level
- An existing building has energy class D and is renovated to energy class C (at least)

Achieve additional potential savings using our systems, products and services. Read more about our systems.

Building Automation and Controls Systems
The term 'Building Automation and Control System' (BACS) refers to centralized systems that monitor, control, and record the functions of building services systems. Building facilities that are monitored and controlled by a reliable BACS tend to maintain the building environment more efficiently and so reduce the building's environmental impact and energy costs.
The core functions of a BACS system are as follows:
- Maintain control of the building's environment.
- Operate systems according to occupancy and energy demand.
- Monitor and correct the performance of systems.
The facilities that may be controlled by a BACS system include mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical systems, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), Lightning control, security and surveillance, alarms and lifts.
