Urbacon Data Centre, Richmond Hill, Canada
Project: 100% ventilation redundancy to prevent system down time
Richmond Hill location is the second Data Center project we have completed with Urbacon. The first one was supplied and installed in Montreal. The customer was extremely happy and wanted the same Swegon solution again. The ventilation system has 2 units installed to provide 100% ventilation redundancy; so that there is no system down time. The ventilation units are integrated with direct spray evaporative cooling and humidification to improve the effectiveness of the energy recovery and energy transfer from the server bays.
Highlights:
- Integrated unit controls
- BACnet IP communications to Building Management System (BMS)
- Unit installed & controlled isolation dampers
- Lead/lag control function
- Total energy recovery wheel
Solution:
Two GOLD RX 30 units were installed side-by-side and connected to a common air distribution system. The unit controls were configured for a lead lag operation as required by the Building Management System (BMS). This control sequence allowed the units to run alternately to extend the life of the units and allowed the backup unit to be tested monthly. Unit and system maintenance along with filter changes can be done without affecting the system’s operation and reliability.
